Megan Smith Animation

Hi there! My name is Megan Smith and I'm a 3D Character Animator. My passion for animation ignited when I was introduced to Flipnote Hatena on my first Nintendo DS as a kid. That digital spark led me to pursue a path in digital art. Throughout high school, I eagerly absorbed all available artistic classes, until my Graphic Design teacher introduced me to ETSU's animation program, and it had my full attention.
My journey at ETSU, where I obtained both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in animation, was transformative. I had the privilege of working closely with awesome faculty, particularly Greg Marlow, whose mentorship fueled my animation passion. It was during this time that I discovered a profound interest in game animation. Witnessing players directly engage with my creations and forming their own connections with the characters I brought to life ignited a new sense of purpose in me, leading me to pursue a career path centered around gaming.
As I pursued my master's degree, I was selected for a GA position, teaching Principles of Animation and Principles of Game Design to underclassmen. This experience deepened my love for mentoring and inspiring the next generation of animators, a role I embraced throughout my graduate education. Post-graduation, I sought further enrichment in animation by enrolling in an iAnimate course with Mike Walling, an experience that broadened my skills significantly in a short amount of time.
My animation journey has been nothing short of memorable and filled with unforgettable experiences. I've collaborated on diverse projects, ranging from working
on 19-foot-tall VR golems, creating AR experiences for the Atlanta Falcons to crafting fast-paced commercials and contributing to various indie games. Collaborating with individuals from all walks of life, and I can't wait to see the adventures that lie ahead in this ever-evolving field!
